- 2/3 cup of Rose Hips
- 10 cups of water
- 1.5 teaspoons of sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice
Easy to Follow Instructions
- You’ll want to acquire some fresh Rose Hips. You can grow these yourself or buy them from a store or online.
- The next step is to thoroughly wash the Rose Hips. This is an important step in any food preparation, but is especially important when dealing with fruits and produce.
- Next, you’ll want to carefully cut the Rose Hips into halves.
- Now is the time to remove the small seeds from the inside of the Rose Hips. You don’t want any lingering seeds to make their way into your tea!
- At this point, you’re ready to slice and dice the Rose Hips into the smallest pieces which you safely can. Be careful when using your knife. Never cut so small so as to risk cutting your finger!
- Transfer all of the sliced Rose Hips from the cutting board or bowl into a saucepan.
- Pour fresh (or even purified) water over the top of the Rose Hips such that the water completely covers the mix.
- Allow the Rose Hips and water mixture to rest for 10 minutes at room temperature. Different periods of “resting” time will result in different tasting teas.
- After resting, it is time to bring the mixture, very slowly, to a boil.
- You’ll want to continue to cook at this low boil for roughly 5 minutes. Again, different timeframes will produce different tasting teas.
- The resulting tea may be somewhat tangy or sour (kind of tastes like cranberry juice to me). You can quickly sweeten the tea by adding honey or sugar to your level of liking.
